My name is Dana. I’m married and have two boys. My son James was diagnosed with level three nonverbal autism at age two, and he is now 11 years old and in fourth grade.

James is sweet, silly and full of life. His smile is contagious and he finds joy and almost everything. But autism can also be hard and scary- a constant guessing game, trial and error and most of all it can be very isolating.

It’s being in a room full of family and friends that love and support you and you still feel alone. I felt a deep need to connect with other moms like me- moms who truly understand without needing an explanation and who share experiences that our family can relate to.

What I was looking for didn’t seem to exist until I found Kindred. I nervously attended my first kindred event in April 2025 and immediately knew this was the group of moms I had been hoping to find.

When you take a seat at the Kindred table, you feel equal supported, and most importantly, not alone.
